How it works

Useful compression without uploading your files

The compressor runs inside your browser. It first searches for the highest JPEG quality that fits your target. If quality adjustment is not enough, it carefully reduces the image dimensions and tries again.

01

Set an exact limit

Enter any target from 1KB upward. The downloaded image is created at or below that limit, making it suitable for forms, email, and web uploads.

02

Keep the best quality

A quality search avoids unnecessary compression. Dimensions are reduced only when the requested file size cannot be reached at the original size.

03

Stay private

Images are decoded, compressed, previewed, and downloaded on your device. The tool does not send your image to an application server.

What target size should you choose?

  • 50–100KB: small profile photos and strict upload forms.
  • 150–300KB: everyday photos, documents, and email attachments.
  • 500KB–1MB: larger website images where detail matters.

Very small targets may require lower resolution. Always inspect the preview before using the result for printing or identity documents.

JPEG, PNG, and WebP

The current tool accepts common browser-readable JPEG, PNG, and WebP files and produces a JPEG download. Because JPEG has no transparency, transparent parts of PNG and WebP images are placed on a white background.

Compression results vary with image detail. Flat graphics usually compress more efficiently than photographs with texture, noise, or fine detail.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

Are my images uploaded or stored?

No. Image processing happens locally in your browser. The application does not upload or retain the image you select.

Why can the image dimensions become smaller?

If reducing JPEG quality cannot meet the requested limit, the tool reduces the dimensions proportionally until the file fits.

Why is the output a JPEG?

JPEG provides predictable browser support and efficient compression for photographs. Transparent pixels are filled with white during conversion.

Is the image compressor really free?

Yes. The compressor is free forever, requires no registration, and does not add watermarks to downloaded images.
